After thinking about what problems we could solve for this restaurant, we decided to focus on making the jobs of the bartenders easier. We came up with a conveyor belt system to transport the drinks around the restaurant to free up space behind the bar and to make it easier for bartenders to get the drinks to the right tables. This process starts at the bar, where the bartenders get drink orders from each table. Each table will have a specific color that goes with it so the bartenders know where to send the drinks back to. When the drinks are ready to be sent to the table, the cups will be secured to the platforms on the conveyor belts by prongs depending on the type of glass. (wine glass has prongs that attach to base, straight cups have prongs that squeeze the sides, etc.). They then move around the bar and up an escalator type ramp to a belt that wraps around the top of the restaurant. When the drinks get to their destination, they will stop over a pressurized elevator platform that will lower the drinks down slowly when it applies pressure to the platform. As soon as the person slides out their drink, it will go back up slowly to get the next drink at the table or continue to move the rest of the drinks onto their final destination. When the drinks get to the table, there will be a flashing light to indicate to those who cannot hear that their drink is lowering down, and a chime to indicate to those who cannot see. We feel like this solution will help with the crowdedness of the area in the restaurant where servers would otherwise have to bring drinks, and also help the bartenders by letting them easily send the drinks to where they need to go without having to communicate specifically with the servers.
