task 1 – create a parametric table or chair design

In this task, we had to create a parametric design of small-scale table or chair that fits within a 60 mm x 60 mm x 60 mm volume. I chose to make a chair based on this video.

My grasshopper code had a couple changeable parameters, the first group is changing the base of the chair which is a circle. I can tune how much the base goes under the chair, and also how stretched both horizontally and vertically the base can be. The rest of the code is working on connecting the base and the back of the chair. I can change how wide the entire chair is, how much of a curve there is between the seat and the back, how slanted the back it, how much of a lip there is on the top of the chair, how skinny the seat gets before the back, and how wide the bars (and the lines in between the bars) are on the chair/ how many there are.

As you can see, I printed my chair with way too much support, and the chair itself was too thin so it was almost impossible to detach from the support :(. I will update with another picture of the finished chair when I reprint.
